Show Tobi Terry is currently enrolled at the U as an Art History major. She especially likes architecture and ancient art and express an ambition to someday be a curator at a Fine Arts Museum. It is her hope to combine her studies in Art History with the knowledge and expertise she will develop as a volunteer. Mary-Kate Wynkoop worked in the private sector where, among other responsibilities, she wrote her company's newsletter and advertising as well as the organization of trade shows. As a volunteer for the Optical Society of Chicago she went into fourth and fifth grade classrooms. An opportunity to learn more about art and share that knowledge with others brought Mary-Kate to our program. DOCENT GALLERY TALKS February 7 2:00 p.m. February 21 2:00 p.m. Pat Faulkner: The Role of Religion in Visual Arts ???????: Flemish and Dutch Paintings in the UMFA Elaine Call cannot do her Gallery Talk on the 21st so, if any docent would like to fill in for her, please let Bernadette know. Sunglasses Found A pair of sunglasses in a purple case has been languishing in the education department for the past three months. Third Saturday and Winter Celebration News Over 500 people came to the Winter Celebrations Family Day- even in a bad snowstorm! Thanks to all who volunteered for the day or helped with preparations. A special thanks to the Winter Celebrations Curatorial team for putting together a wonderful exhibit for me to use and also many ideas for activities and performers ( and even gelt!) Hooray!! The January 16, 1999 Third Saturday was a success too with about 55 people attending and about 10 who came at the wrong time. We toured the Museum looking at all kinds of portraits, and then made selfportraits with Model Magic. It is possible that this event will continue to grow in popularity (more like PROBABLE), so I'm always happy for help of any kind. ( In fact, if you show up, and I need you, I'll put you to work!) Thanks for our volunteers this time: Carol Medworth ( who helps every time!), Pam Parrot, Bizzie Drinkaus, Karin Brown and Elodie Payne. The next Third Saturday is on February 20. There is a flyer posted next to the name badges -- look them over! Come! Ann |
