Show Inside Out, 214 emotions play across Terra's face in rapid succession: surprise at being disturbed, disgust when she looked at Simon, then shock when she saw me. "Excuse us," she said icily. "We came here for some privacy." "No, no," said Martina, sitting up. "Come on in, Simon. Tve been looking for you. Who's that with you?" "Martina!" said Terra, pleading. "You can finish telling me with Simon here," and then, turning to Simon, "Right, Simon? Terra was just telling me about her dad." "Is that right?" asked Simon. It was obvious that Terra didn't want to talk about whatever was bothering her with Simon in the room. And it seemed to me that Martina wasn't going to be much help even if she was sober, which I was beginning to doubt. "Terra," I said, trying to put urgency and pleading in my voice. "I need to talk to you. Please come out and talk to me." Terra wrinkled her nose at me. "Why don't you go away and leave me with my friends," she said. Simon and Martina watched us in apparent fascination. "I'm sorry," I said. "Terra, I'm really sorry. I was a jerk. There's no reason on earth you should forgive me. But I want you to, anyway." She was listening, but her face was blank. "I just really-really need to talk to you. Outside. Please come out with me." Martina must have been getting bored just watching us. "It's Andli, right?" she asked, sitting up. |
