She stopped walking and turned to me. Her eyes were snapping with disgust. "Is there any reason that I should care what .vow heard people saying about me?" I stood planted there in the hall with my face burning off. My immediate thought was that I needed to somehow bring this conversation to a close. But behind all that I couldn't help thinking that this was Joseph's sister, that somewhere, maybe nearby, he was thinking about her, caring about her. I wished I could tell her about him. The dislike on her face was obvious. I had definitely blown it. "I-uh, I guess not," I babbled. "I'm sorry." She turned and walked into class, and didn't look at me while I took my seat. Denver, however, watched me come down the aisle. He probably thought Terra and I were friends. Double strike-out. I pulled out my class journal to start writing, but when I opened it my heart stopped. Someone else had written in my journal.
