J: People here are pretty focused on their own business. I was fascinated. I wanted to hear more about what was going on all around me in the library. But I had to keep control of myself, to get to what was most important. Me: Still, I think you could probably find my mom, if you tried. Me: if you could find her, then I'd believe you. J: I'll try. J: It would help if I knew a little more about you. A little warning bell went off in my head. Here it was, just what they were always warning about on the news: beware of people who solicit personal information from you over the internet. Me: But how do I know ifs safe to tell you stuff about me? J: Look, I could probably find it all if I took time to look through files on your computer. J: If II just save time if you tell me yourself. Look through files on my computer? Well, I guessed he could, since he'd rigged out whatever had enabled him to talk to me in the first place. Was there anything risky on my computer? I didn't think so. Quickly I ran through my files in my mind. No financial information. Probably my address was all over the place, but since he knew my name and knew where the library was, that stuff wouldn't be hard for him to figure out anyway.
