Show Inside Out, 188 A form letter! Her heart sunk. She pulled out a chair and sat down. Tears pricked the backs of her eyes-had she cared that much? She guessed she had. She shook her head and made herself read the letter all the way through. And there was her name. Her heart skipped a beat and she had to read it two or three times. Her name! The phone rang. It was Andli West. Terra hadn't told Mom about the Young Writer's Academy. She hadn't wanted to make waves unless she knew she was going. But it wasn't as if Mom could protest, right? Because it was free. Everything was paid for. She hoped Mom would be excited for her, but she wasn't sure. Maybe Mom would see it as more trouble, more hassle or work for her. But maybe not. Terra debated for a long time whether to tell Mom about the Academy tonight, or whether to give her the letter tonight. Or maybe she could do both. They could talk about the Academy, and then Mom would be in a good mood (??) when she read the other letter. Or maybe they could talk about the Academy tonight and she could just give her the other letter tomorrow, or another day. No, she had to do it today. Those letters were burning a hole in her backpack. Terra wouldn't be able to rest until she had done it. She wouldn't be able to enjoy the thought of the Academy until she had done it. |
