Show Inside Out, 130 I was a little confused. It was like the first scene in the book. Maybe he just forgot. "I'd like to, um, talk to you more about it when I finish it," he said. "OK," I said. "I hope you like it." "I know I will, since you recommended it so highly," he said. "I know you have good taste in music, anyway. So I'll probably like what you like in books." I laughed. He must remember the Tellandory. "So you like Tellandory, huh?" I asked. "Mostly their old stuff," he said. "Me too!" I said. "After Inside Out they seem to have lost something," I said. "Yes, Zip Drive and a couple of them in there were a little stupid," he said. "I think their fame got to them for a while. But some of their newest stuff is pretty good. Til bring you a cd tomorrow and you can listen to it and copy it if you like." I felt a twinge of discomfort. I don't like to copy cds. Mom's friend Jaycee is a songwriter and she gets really mad about people copying cds. She says it's the same as stealing a cd from the store. But like I could say all this to Denver Bingham! "I'd love to hear it. Thanks," I said. There was a pause. One of those horrible, awful pauses. My mind whirled. What else could we talk about? Don't say goodbye! "Well, uh, guess I'd better go hit the books," he said. "Yeah. I've got to go too," I said. How could I sound not too eager to get off the phone but not clingy either? "But thanks for calling." Oof. That sounded like something |
