Show Inside Out, 68 Chapter 16: Terra "Don't worry about it," said Martina. "He's slime. Everybody knows he's slime." "Well, then why do you hang out with him?" "We don't hang out with him. He hangs out with us," she said. Leah said, "I don't know why. Probably because he's Russel's cousin. And Russel's not bad. There's nothing wrong with Russel." She looked sideways at Martina. Terra had suspected that Martina had a thing for Russel. Looked like she was right. "Just ignore him," Martina said. "He'll get the hint after a while." "I think he drives by my house," said Terra. It was true. She had seen him once, and other times she had heard the motorcycle. Last night, a motorcycle had chased through her dreams-ominous, dark dreams. "He's harmless," said Leah. The bell rang and the girls gathered their lunch wrappings and headed out of the gym building to the main building. "So did you see Sadie Beesinger's new car?" asked Leah. "Yeah," said Martina. "Daddy's little girl must have had a birthday." "You know what I got for my birthday?" "What?" "Fifteen dollars. My mom pulled out her purse and said, 'Oh, I guess it's your birthday. Here, go buy a cd or something.'" "Ha!" said Martina. "What did your mom get you?" |
