Show 756 Mr, Garrett reported that following the recent audit by STATE AUDITOR'S REQUEST REFERRED TO WILLIAM LEARY AND ASSOCIATES the State Auditors covering the period July 1, 1948 to June 30, 1950, Mr, Reese M, Reese, State Auditor, had written a letter requesting the remittance to the State Treasurer of profits from bookstore operations in the amount of $138, 094, 98 for the period July 1, 1946 to June 30, 1948; also requesting that stock room profits arising from sale of war surplus property to departments of the University (not saleable) be refunded to the various departments in proportion to their purchases; further that prompt remittance be made of an amount of $31, 500 representing a revolv- ing fund to the Stores and Receiving Department for stock purchases, which was provided for out of University maintenance funds in lieu of a loan from the State which would have to be returned at the close of each biennium, The Finance Committee of the Board, after reviewing the report, recommended that the request from the State AuditOr be referred to William H. Leary and legal associates, who are engaged in preparing a brief for the seeking of a declaratory judgment to be filed in the near future, Regent Culp moved approval of the recommendation which was duly seconded and carried BOARD RATIFIES ACTION OF TREASURER IN EXCHANGING CERTIFICATES BUILDING COMMITTEE REPORT: DORMITORY SEWER LINE On motion of Regent Culp seconded by Regent Romney and carried, the. Board ratified the action of the Treasurer, Charles L. Smith, in exchanging U, S. Treasury certificates amounting to $300, 000., par value 1 1/4 % Series D maturing July 1 for a new issue dated June 15, 1951, maturing April 1,1952. Regent O'Connor reported on the dormitory project stating that two architects have agreed to do the work for 4% of the contract price and that the amount of the usual fee above the 4% would be considered as their contribution, The Building Board' has under consideration the appointment of an architect for this project and, consequently, pending its decision nothing can be done. The sewer line has been approved and accepted by Salt Lake City Corporation, - RADIATION LABORATORY Notice has been received from the Atomic Energy Commission that the original grant ($100, 000,) covering construc- tion of a radiation laboratory, has been increased to $171, 000 plus an amount required to equip the building, Construction is AIR-CONDITION- actually in progress at the present time. ' ING OF KINGS- BURY HALL TO BE STUDIED Regent Culp recommended that the Building Committee look into the matter of air-conditioning Kingsbury Hall. Regent O'Connor assured the Board his Committee would give this con- sideration, |
