The President reported briefly on the trip which he had ATHLETIC just completed attending meetings in Denver, Colorado, of , CONFERENCE Presidents of the Mountain States and Rocky Mountain Confer- MEETINGS ences. -It was the consensus of the conference that Presidents should have more responsibility and control over conference athletic affairs, and ground work was laid for a series of meet- ings with the details to be worked out. This would include the relation of the faculty representatives to the presidents' group. A permanent organization of presidents was recommended and a committee was appointed to work with faculty representatives in changing the constitution so. as to recognize this group, which is to be policy-forming, with faculty representatives charged V with carrying out the many details. ~ ' The presidents felt that the Conference Commissioners should be responsible to them. The President reported that" efforts to raise funds for the support of the office of the Commissioner of Athletics by a pre-season- basketball tournament had not proven successful, and that the presidents of the Mountain States Universities and Colleges VOted to discontinue the tournament and assess each school a proportionate share of the expenses of this office.
