Show 682 NO CHANGE IN been consulted by the'Chairman of the Board and recommended that the matter be brought to the Board's attention. The Com- HONORARY DEGREE RECOMMENDATIONS mittee had recommended two candidates for this honor for this year and they were elected at the last meeting. After a discussion of the proposal, Regent Adam S. Bennion moved that the Board stand on its previous action, which was seconded by Regent Gibson and carried. REQUEST FOR A request for the use of the stadium on July 20, 1951, (which is, incidentally, during the time the summer festival is in progress) for a prize fight between Rex Layne and Pat USE Valentino, was presented by the President. OF STADIUM FOR PRIZE FIGHT REFERRED TO ATHLETIC BOARD The President stated that representatives of the groups sponsoring this event U Men's Club - Sons of Utah Pioneers and Quarterback Club had called on him with the request, pointing out that the Stadium was the only place which would be large enough to accommodate the crowd; also brought out was the fact that the University of Utah Development Fund will share in the profits, which are to be allocated to athletic scholarships. The President further re- ported that the Secretary-Manager of the Utah State Fair Board had written him protesting vigorously against the policy of the University of making available its facilities for commercial events, and cited instances where this has occurred. Following a discussion, Regent Cox moved refusal of the request, which was seconded by Regent O'Connor. A further discussion followed, during which Regent Culp brought out the fact that the sponsors are associated with the University and it 'must be recognized that the funds received from this activity will go to help the athletic program on this campus. The President read the following letters from Ivan V. Walton, representing the sponsoring groups, and from J. A.
