Show 561 BIENNIAL BUDGE T DISC USSE D WITH GOVERNOR University budget request for the next biennium, pursuant to the Board's action at its meeting of November 8. The Presi- dent felt that everything, with respect to the University, has now been done in preparation for the coming session of the Legislature. Regent Adam S. Bennion, a member of the Legisla- tive Council committee on higher education, reported that the committee is working on a basic budget formula which it hopes will do justice to all institutions and be acceptable by them. However, it is wholly in preliminary stages at the present time. ART GALLERY NEARING COMPLE TION The President reported that the art gallery is nearing completion with the single exception of the two special rooms. Mrs. Hudnut has sent a sample of tapestry to be placed on the walls in the rooms in which her exhibits are to be displayed, and Mr. George Gadsby has advised the President he will raise the money for completion of this work. LETTER 'OF APPRECIATION FROM DIRECTOR KIMBALL OF BYU FOR USE OF FIELD HOUSE The President reported that he had received a letter from Mr. Edwin R. Kimball, Director of Athletics at the BYU expressing appreciation to the Regents and the Athletic Board for making available the Field House for its games with Indiana State College in December. NO ACTION ON BYU REQUEST CONCERNING RENTAL CHARGES The President also reported that he had not been further approached with regard to waiving the rental charges for these games. Inasmuch as this matter Was not mentioned in the call of the special meeting in which it was discussed, Regent Romney moved ratification of the action taken by the Board at the November 8 meeting in relation thereto. Motion was secOnded by Regent Gibson and carried. LETTER OF APPRECIATION FROM EAST HIGH SCHOOL The President read a letter from the President of the East High School Student Body, undersigned by Mr. Frank S. Allen, principal, in which is acknowledged the help and cooperation extended to them by the President and the Board of Regents in making available the buildings and facilities of the University for the activities of the High School. LETTER FROM DEAN WAHLQUIST CONCERNING UTAH'S LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATIONAL FIELD A letter from Dr. John T.
