Show 0') OJ U1 ment Board, The President stated that no complaints have reached h1m concerning the decisions of this Board. DEAN GEERLINGS' The President reported on a communication from Dean. Geerlings covering a survey of all ranks of the faculty SURVEY show1ng the colleges from which they received their degrees REPORTED and also their church affiliations, Incidentally, the President gave a brief statistical report on the church affiliations of students attending the University, stating that at the time of registration this in- formation is furnished by the student, However, the Presi- dent made it clear to the Board that the students are under no obligation to answer this question which appears on their registration cards; however, when it is given, the adminis- tration merely releases this information to the churches concerned, in this community, in the interest of students' welfare. The President was requested to send a copy of Dr, Geerlings' report to each Board member, COMMITTEE REPORTS: Following conclusion of the President's report, Chairman Bennion called for-committee reports, HONORARY DEG RE ES Regent Ballif, chairman of the Honorary Degrees Committee reported that he had received no nominations to date and called attention to the approaching dead line, He requested that the members submit their nominations to the Secretary and that he would call a meeting of his committee shortly to consider this matter, The Board accepted Regent Christensen‘s nomination of Dr. Howard R. Driggs for this honor, President Olpin requested permission to solicit the Faculty for nominations, to which the Board‘was favorable. REPORT ON BOYD HATCH FURNITURE GIFT EXPECTED . SHORTLY FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT The President reported that he expects to hear from Mr. Boyd Hatch following consultation with his architect concerning his gift of English and Italian furniture. The President also reported that between $10, 000 - $12, 000 has been estimated as being required to bring this collection to, Utah, (see minutes October 20, 1950) The following report of the Finance Committee was approved on motion of Regent Romney seconded by Regent Evans: |
