Show 710 The Faculty Committee on Commencement has submitted to the President its recommendations for speakers: Baccalaureate: Rt. Rev. Richard S.‘ Watson, newly consecrated Bishop of the Episc0pal Church Commencement: David O, McKay, President of the L. D, S. Church These recommendations were concurred in on motion of Regent Culp seconded by Regent O'Connor, Regent Ballif, chairman of the Honorary Degrees Committee, reported for his Committee, stating that Chairman Sill had been a leader in the movement to include a third candidate for an honorary degree at this commencement, and he would APPOINTMENT OF SPEAKERS FOR COMMENCEMENT RICHARD S. WATSON DAVID 0. McKAY DAVID 0. McKAY TO RECEIVE like, as Chairman of the Committee, to suggest to the Board that it take action on the third person suggested, viz. , David 0., HONORARY DEGREE McKay, He further recommended that in this case all rules governing election of candidates be suspended, whereupon Regent Culp so moved and that an honorary degree be conferred on President McKay at this coming commencement. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously,, ADJOURNED SECRETARY APPROVED 1951 |
