The President reported receipt of a letter from the Gov ernor under date of April 26, 1951, requesting information on salaries and duties of all employees of the University, and other pertinent information in connection therewith. (copy attached) President Olpin had prepared the foll owing letter in re- ply thereto, but desired the Board's appr oval before transmitting it to the Governor. The President call ed particular attention to the enormous task which the prep aration of the report would involve, and especially at this time of the year. Regent Browning moved approval of the letter prepar ed by the Presi- dent and that it be transmitted over the signatur es of the President and the Chairman of the Board. Bracken Lee Governor, State of Utah Utah Capitol Building Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Governor Lee: This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of April 26, 1951, requesting "a table of information showing a department-by-depart- ment breakdown of employees, from the instructional staff to the maintenance force, " giving "the number of employees, their position or duties, and their average salary, " including "additional salary from other than state sources, " segregating the instructional staff as to "deans, professors, associate and assistant professors, instructors, lecturers, assistants, etc. , " and making a "similar breakdown for administrative, maintenance, and janitorial personnel, etc. " We note, further, that you desire this table to provide informatlon""not only for the present'biennium but for the past several biennlums, and you. would like to receive it in ample time to present it to the forthcoming special session of the legislature. |
