SEEK PERSON (4) That the President be encouraged in his efforts to find a person qualified to act as coordinator of research projects at the University. He was also authorized to go forward with whatever negotiations are necessary in the employment of Dr. E. V. Condon, director of the U. S. Bureau of Standards, as a theoretical physicist in the Department of Physics. The meeting then adjourned to the Board Room. On motion of Regent Browning, seconded by Regent Romney, the minutes of the meetings of October 20 and November 8 were approved. Chairman Sill invited the President to present his report. Pursuant to the action of the Board at its last meeting concerning the deceleration of the three-year program now in effect in the College of Medicine, the President reported that the administration of the College had met with the second-year group to discuss the proposed program with them in an attempt to work out a solution which would be entirely satisfactory to all concerned. A poll of the sophomore class members (numbering 52) was taken, 'Which show that 30 students wished to continue with the present plan (3 years of 4 quarters) and the remaining 22 indicated they preferred the new plan (4 years of 3 quarters). It was then concluded by the administration that as far as the sophomore class is concerned, the students be permitted to follow their choice as indicated by the poll. At this point, the President pro- posed that a curator of art be appointed who would be accept- able to this University, to other colleges in the State, and also the Utah State Art Institute; further, if there was no objection on the part of the Regents, he would like to ask for names of suitable persons for appointment to an advisory group in connection with the selection of a curator.
