Show 661 Upon conclusion of the President's repor t the Chairman invited Regent O'Connor to report the present status of the Building Committee's assignments. ART CENTER The Committee chairman reported there had been some delay in preparing contracts as the bids were BUILDING higher than anticipated. The original appropriation for this proCOMMITTEE ject was $200, 000. Mr. William Woolf, Director of Physical REPORT Plant and'Operations and Professor Roger Bailey of the Department of Architecture, are working on changes in the plans and specifications in an attempt to bring the bid price down. Regent O'Connor assured the Board the project would be completed within the original estimate of $200, 000. «ART GALLERY He reported that the art gallery would be completed With the possible exception of some of the tile work, by the time the Hudnut collection arrives on April 1 or thereabouts. CANCER WING The cancer laboratory building is completed; but. another two weeks will be required to make it read for occupancy. SEWER PROJECT Regent O'Connor, Chairman, Build- ings and Grounds Committee, requested approval of an expenditure of $13, 000 to cover the cost of the 3300' sewer line of 12" tile pipe. This project was explained at the February 12 meeting. Regent Browning moved approval seconded by Regent Ballif and carried. CLASSROOM BUILDING SCIENCE BUILDING The Committee chairman reported that the most pressing need now is a classroom building and a request has been made of the Legislature for such a building at a cost of $1, 500, 000 as explained at the February 12 meeting. Almost equally pressing is the need for a laboratory building and a request for $2, 000000 for such a building was also made to the legislature. It was reported that $30, 000 has been allocated DORMITORY from thmversity Development Fund for plans and preliminary architectural work on a men's dormitory; also an application has been placed with the Housing and Home Finance Agency - Community Facilities Service - Denver office - for advance planning funds, but no response has, as yet, been received. The President assured the Board he will investigate this matter when he is in Denver this week. It was urged by members that this project be given every consideration to get it under way. the On motion of Regent Bamberger, duly seconded and carried, following report of the Finance Committee was accepted: |
