The invitation has been accepted by the University Athletic Board, DEATH OF PROF. WMD PETERSON The death of Professor William Peterson of the Music Department on Sunday, March 11, dent, 1951, was reported by the Presi- A resolution has been prepared by the faculty and will be sent to the funeral services to be conducted at 12:15 P.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 1951, in the Yale Ward Chapel. ADJUSTMENT IN SALARY TO BE MADE The following communication from Dr. Jacob Geerlings, Dean of the Faculty, was read by the President, following which Regent Romney moved that the recommended adjustment be made and that-an expression of sympathy from the Board of Regents be extended to the family. Motion was seconded by Regent Browning and carried, March 12, 1951 President A. Ray Olpin University of Utah Dear President Olpin: When the University went on the four-quarter plan a considerable number of the faculty were entitled to a Sabbatical leave of absence and it was decided by the Board of Regents that in lieu of this a faculty member might elect to take a Sabbatical quarter of leave prior to July 1, 1953, Prof° William Peterson was one of those entitled to a Sabbatical quarter of leave, but he was unable to take advantage of it in View of the increased enrollments in the department of Music, During the current academic year Prof, Peterson's non-teaching quarter was the summer (1950), but it could have counted equally well as a Sabbatical quarter of leave in view of the fact that he spent his non-teaching quarter taking classes with Professors LeRoy Robertson and C. Lowell Lees and Mr, Peter Wilhousky, In view of the present circumstances I recommend that during the current academic year Prof, Peterson be granted a Sabbatical quarter of leave for the summer of 1950.
