A I had three cameras, each of a different size; two of them were films, and one was plates ; I had some what at that time was called the paper films, they were not the celluloid, like they are using nowadays; they were paper; after they were exposed and washed and ready for printing they were made transparent with oil. Q How far down the river were you able to transport the glass plates? A About the middle of Cataract canyon when the camera got smashed up sand the plates were all gone. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Where were the plates from which these pictures which have been offered in evidence, where were they kept? A They were shipped to Denver. Q Where did you transport them, how did you get them down to Lees Ferry? A I kept as much of the photographic stock as possible wrapped in my rubber coat and rubber blanket.
