BLACKMAR: Q Do you remember a town called Hanksville? A No sir. Q Were there any ranches or any people in this stretch of country that you covered between Greenriver and Crescent creek? A We didn't see any; if there were, they were so far away we didn't see them. Q Crescent creek is, you say, below the Dirty Devil? A Yes. Q About how many miles? A Somewheres from six to ten, I think. Q In coming down to the river did you come down through Dirty Devil canyon, or through Crescent Creek canyon? A Crescent. Dirty Devil is on the left- hand side of the river; Crescent is on the right- hand as you are coming down the river. Q As I understand it, the object of this expedition was to continue the survey of the Colorado River? A Yes sir. Q At what point had you broken off on that survey? |
