Show 3328 Aurand- D 1353 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Just give the number of it on the outside. A Water Supply paper 396; I kept a record. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What is the date of it? A 1917. It is on profile surveys in Colorado river basin. Q By means of the notation of miles on that, you checked up wherever you hit? A I know where the main sandbars were. Q Did you check up at the time you went down? A Oh, yes, I mapped the whole way going down, so I knew. Q What was the object of doing that? A This was two- fold; first, I was supposed to fin if there were any geological structures and to study the geology down the Colorado river below Moab, and second, I made it a point to find out the navigability of the stream as far as to the mouth of Indian creek, because we had acreage which we had hoped to drill in that territory. Those were my instructions. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q All right. Just go ahead now, and tell us about that trip. A From that point on, miles post 2, we had no trouble down into Cataract canyon. From the headwaters of the Cataract canyon we turned around and went up, back up to the confluence, and up the Green river. |
