A That was my first trip to the river, yes. Q Then you later made the other trips which you have mentioned. Let me ask you, Colonel Dent, what the purpose of your trip was? A I was instructed by the war Department to report to the Department of Justice to assist them in the case now in hearing. My instructions from the Department of Justice were substantially -- the verbal instructions were substantially to make this journey over the rivers and be prepared to testify to what I saw. Q And in accordance with those instructions you reported to the Department of Justice? A In Washington, yes. Q And you accompanied Mr. Moyer, one of the attorneys of record in this case, west, did you? A No sir. Q You met him upon your arrival west, did you? A Nor sir, met him in Denver when he arrived here. |
