Show 3293 Dobbin- D 1318 Q When was it you made this trip down the Colorado river from Moab? A August 4 to 10, 1926. Q What kind of boat did you have? A We had a sixteen- foot Evinrude boat that I purchased, and we had on that an out- board motor, six horsepower Evinrude motor. Q How much water did that boat draw? A I never measured it, but I would say, light, it would draw a foot and a half. Q How much of a load were you carrying? A There were two of us on the trip, J. B. Reside, Jr. was in the bow; I operated the engine and started the boat. We had two bed rolls, food for about a week, for two, some cameras and a surveying instrument; they were very light, though; and we had a barrel that I think contained twenty- five gallons of gasoline; it was not less than twenty- five. That is all. Q Had you had some experience with boats prior to this time? A A great deal, on salt water. Q You handled motor boats before? A Yes. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Is that the Reside who made notes on the geology of the Green River valley in 1923? |
