BLACKMAR: He testified the object of this expedition -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: He said the purpose of the trip was to survey. Nothing was testified about any survey having been made. BY MR. BLACKMAR Q On this first trip did you run a line? A Yes sir, the surveyors did, yes. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Was that a traverse along the river bank? A Yes sir, it was, all of it, practically, on the left- hand side of the river going down. Q Along the river bed or bank? A On the talus above the water. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q The entire survey was in the canyon? A Yes. My work was to photograph the surveyor's line, so that the photographs could be placed in the surveyors's notes, and the people could see what character of country it would have to go through if it was built. MR. FARNSWORTH: He didn't say where Major Stanton left off, where he quit surveying. |
