Show 3242 Dent- D 1267 Q Where was the " corpse" of this boat located? A In the vicinity of Lee's Ferry, right at the ferry, practically; and in addition to that there were the remains of a dredge way up the river, parts of the machinery having been placed on shore and having caved into the river, and other parts still remaining on shore. The hull and the ladder was out in the river. Q Colonel, comparing that section of the river with the section that you were on between Moab and the junction, having in mind navigability, what have you to say as to those two sections? THE SPECIAL MASTER: Practical navigability. A The Glen canyon section is very much less navigable, practically, than the section above the junction, using the term navigation for such boats as were in actual use in the Moab to the Cataract canyon section. Q Colonel, turning back to that Moab section for just a minute, did you see any other boats in operation on that stretch of the river? A No. Q What day did you complete your trip there at Lee's Ferry? A On September 4th. Q After you reached Lee's Ferry, then where did you go? BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q You reached Lee's Ferry on September 4th, you say? |
