Sheet 5 -- THE SPECIAL MASTER: Do any of those government publications which were introduced in evidence in Washington purport to give the cause of this phenomena of sand waves? MR. BLACKMAR: There is a discussion of those sand waves, I think, in the Miser report. MR. COLLINS: On the San Juan. MR. BLACKMAR: It seems to be a very peculiar situation. I don't know as anybody has figured out just what it is. THE WITNESS: We camped over night in the vicinity of Mile 54, and I have a note, " Sand waves breaking all night." That is the time when I attempted to time them; but night fell, and I couldn't see my watch. The following day, after leaving there, as we went downstream, I note, " San waves at mile 53." Sheet 4 -- BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Just a minute. Did you come up this river? |
