Show 3292 Dobbin- D 1317 Moab south to Monticello, but the branch from that down Indian creek was an old trail that led down to a ranch some miles, and from there the oil men had carried material into the oil wells over some trails they had made. Q These were recent roads, were they? A Yes, We forded Indian creek sixteen times, and we had out engine and carburetor wrapped up in inner tubes to keep them from getting wet. Below there, in the vicinity of the oil wells, we got there with the car all right, but it was very tortuous trails, and in low gear and second gear, just maneuvered over the country at a very slow gait. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q In that country are there any people living in there? A Between the Green and Colorado rivers I saw nobody living except one man living on the road, the main traveled road north of Moab, right beside the road, and then there is a ranch at Valley city. Both are on the main road north from Moab. Those are the only people I saw. Q On the west side of the Green river? A I saw nobody living in there. I understand there is a ranch or two on the river, but we didn't get down to the river. Q Now, around in that Indian creek country? A I remember one ranch. |
