Show 3316 Aurand- D 1341 run off. The erosion on the west side of this, however, is much less abrupt than on the east side. It is a country of sand rocks or sandstones, as we call them, and shales. The shales are soft, leaving the harder sandstones standing out as ridges or cliffs throughout the area. One the top, and even on the west side, there are certain areas in which wild grass will grow, and cattle could graze on this wild grass between the two rivers. Q Between what two rivers? A Between the Green and the Colorado. That is the question you asked me, east of the Green river. Q I thought you just said west of the Green river? A No, east of the Green river, the country between the Green and the Colorado rivers. As you approach a point about twenty- five miles, or twenty- eight miles above the confluence of the two streams, the country suddenly breaks off, drops a thousand feet in elevation, and you have a barrow area which continues clear down to the confluence of the two rivers.
