Show 3376 Nims- D 1401 A They were to be brought in by wagon from Kanab, Utah, and they didn't come. Q Did you get some supplies down there at the mouth of the Dirty Devil? A Yes, of the placer miners. Q How many placer miners were in there at that time? A Oh, I don't know how many there were; we didn't stop at all the places where they were working. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Were there one or two or a dozen or how many? A Oh, there was -- I should think there was a dozen or twenty scattered along there, but at the cabin we stopped at there was some eight -- let's see, McDonald, -- there were seven that I can remember of that lived in that cabin. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Was that the place they called Hite? A That was above that. Q How large a place was Hite, Utah, at that time, or do you remember such a place? A I don't remember; there weren't more than half a dozen building all told, if there was that. It wasn't called Hite at that time; it was called Dandy Crossing. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Dandy? A Dandy. |
