Q Would you say that the fact that you spoke of, that is to say, having some trouble going down stream and at the same places coming up stream you had no trouble, was not due to the fact that with a motor boat you have less difficulty going up stream in shallow water than going down stream? A It was my opinion then, and always has been, that it was due to shifting sand; the channel was deeper coming up stream. Q You didn't make notes of particular points, did you? A No, made no notes. Q You didn't get stuck in any place coming up stream that you had had no trouble going down stream at, did you,-- so far as you remember? A So far as I remember. Q And were there more than one or two places where you had had trouble coming down stream and went over exactly the same place that you had no trouble coming up stream? A I would say three or four places. Q If you bad had trouble at those three or four places going down stream, why did you tackle the same places coming up stream? A That I can't remember.
