Show 3303 Dobbin- C 1328 Q That is the only time you ever were on the Green river? A That is the only time, yes sir. Q In making this trip down the Colorado river from Moab you desired to study the geology of the banks, did you not? A That was the purpose of the trip, a recognizance trip to find out the geology, so the men who were mapping the area in detail and living in camps could see it later and know what was ahead of them. Q To that end you kept as close to the banks as you could did you not, so you could have full opportunity for observation where you didn't get out? A Not necessarily. Q Not necessarily, but that is what you did isn't it? A I just don't remember; we aimed, of course, when we were going with our boat to what we thought was deep water, irrespective of whether it was on the right or left bank. Q Did you concern yourselves particularly with the channel of that river going down? A So far as it would help us to get along in out boat. Q Had either one of you ever been on the river before? A Except this one trip I told you about. Q The one trip you took down to the Shafer well was the only previous experience on the river that either of the had had? A That is true of myself, and I think that is true for Reeside. |
