Show 3265 Dent- C 1290 A It was before dark, yes. Q During that day's travel did you make observations and examinations of the river, its physical characteristics and those of the bed? Did you make notations with reference to your observations? A I made very few notations of that trip up. I was studying the river on the trip up with a different idea in mind. Q Did you stop for lunch after you left this mile 30 1/ 2 and before arriving at Moab? A We had lunch on the way up. Q Did you stop and go ashore while you had lunch, or did you eat it while you were traveling up stream? A My recollection is we stopped under a cliff, we ate and stayed in the boat; the skeeters were pretty bad on shore. Q Well, I don't care to have you take any more time, Colonel Dent, in finding out about that lunch. Did you observe more or less water on the river from North wash down to Lee's Ferry than from Moab to the confluence? A There was much more. Q What was the comparative width of river from North wash down, and from Moab to the mouth of the Green? A From North wash down, part of it was considerably wider; I am under the impression part of it was narrower. The maps would show. |
