A I made two separate trips, the first beginning at Moab, Utah, and going down to just above the first cataract in Cataract canyon, of the Colorado river. Then going up the Green river for a distance of five miles, then retracing the trip to Moab, Utah. On that trip I was accompanied by Mr. Archie D Ryan, of the General Land Office of Salt Lake City, and Virgil Baldwin was operating the boat, with an assistant boatman, Cecil Thompson. Q In the examination of the river, what clements did you take into consideration? A My examination of rivers have in the past been directed towards the question of existing navigability, existing commerce, possibilities for improvement of the river, cost of the improvement, and general economic aspects as to whether the river should be improved or not. Another type of inspection I have been accustomed to has been in connection with rules and regulations for navigation, which I have not paid any attention to on the Colorado river.
