DENT, a witness of lawful age, called by and on behalf of the complainant, having been first duly sworn according to law by the Special Master, was examined and testified as follows: DIRECT EXAMINATION BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Will you state your name to the court, please? A Lieutenant- Colonel Elliott J. Dent, Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army. Q Colonel Dent, how old a man are you? A Fifty- two. Q Will you tell me, please, the scope of your education, and experience? A I am graduate of the United States Military Academy, Class of 1901. On graduation I was assigned to the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, and have risen from second Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel in that Corps. I was a full Colonel during the World War. My experience has included about twelve years with engineer troops, and the balance of the time on engineering work, mainly in connection with rivers and harbors. Q What rivers have you to do with?
