Show 400 I can hear Rex whining on the other side ofthe door as we climb the steps. She is pulling me up the steps more than my muscles are pushing and I am grateful for her knowledge of this limitation. I will have to be careful learning that skill on my own. We enter the door and she pulls the wheelchair through after us and swiftly places it behind me. "OK," she is saying as I fall into it. Rex is licking my hand in greeting, as if I had been gone for months. Perhaps I have been. After all, I have just walked twenty-five yards. Twenty-five impossible yards. |
