Show 157 He has punctured the skin and the needle is resting in the correct port and he is attempting to withdraw the Baclofen in the catheter. I am taking deep breaths to find the courage to speak and the words are forming in my mind and on my tongue that I know will alienate me from medical care forever but he is seeming stumped. He is looking at Rhonda, who is looking at the needle. The plunger on the syringe will not budge. He is pulling upward on it but it will not move. "You might try pulling back more slowly," Rhonda suggests. His hand relaxes and his pull is more gradual but still the plunger refuses to move. ""Any thoughts?" he is asking her. "It's possible the catheter is kinked or obstructed," Rhonda is saying. "There is obviously not a clear passage for the Baclofen." He does not trust her enough. He excuses himself and we can hear him on the telephone to the company. Rhonda rolls her eyes and looks down at me. He is talking for a long time. He is returning around the comer. "Dr. Gerry says it's probable the catheter is kinked or obstructed," he is saying. "We'll have to replace it." |
