Show 391 One Season Home The pump system has been turned back on for four months now. We have enjoyed our summer together as a family - it has been a long time since I have stayed home this long. The tomatoes I planted in the late spring, when I last arrived back home from the hospital, are now being harvested. The blossoms that were peaking all pink and white on the trees in our backyard the day I got home are now ripened plums, weighing down the branches. I have actually been home an entire season. It has not been all smooth. There have been some inevitable startles, but the home health agency, at Dr. Emerson's prompting, agreed at discharge to try sending trained nurses to my home to resolve them instead of sending me to the hospital by ambulance, where I am more likely to continue being startled and enter the cycle of requiring more and more Versed. It does seem, however, that even the startle issue has lessened lately. That is perhaps why I am additionally concerned about showing signs of overdose. "Mary Ann?" I am asking over the telephone. Mary Ann is one of my home health nurses. "Have you been startled?" she is asking. |
