Show 140 V.I.P. I am coming awake only gradually. Hurting front and back once again, I understand immediately by the location of the pain that they have once again changed out the catheter. It was another six-inch needle diagnosis, finally made after my return only weeks after discharge. But it was not a diagnosis made quickly nor was it made with any confidence that my assessment of the situation would be correct. Coming more awake now, I realize that this room is not the same one I have been living in for the past several weeks since my return. There are pieces of fine furniture scattered in hotel suite placements around the bed - two upholstered overstuffed chairs surrounding a round mahogany table with curving carved legs are next to the window; a matching loveseat is sitting in front of a mahogany cabinet, doors closed, evidently hiding the TV; there is wainscoting on the walls with paper that is neither peeling nor unattractive - the whole room is themed in mauve and deep green and cream colors. A handsome five-pronged chandelier is coming down from the ceiling where the florescent tubes are supposed to be. Long and flowing patterned curtains match the upholstery. Is this an apology? |
