Show THE PIANO SEPTET Before this year the University of Utah Piano Septet has never been considered as a factor in the musical life of this campus, but because of its recent unprecedented rise to fame, the ensemble will hereafter be recognized as a powerful agent for the advancement of musical activities at this university. Among the accomplishments of the organization during this year might be mentioned its journey to Los Angeles with the Men's Glee Club and its extended appearance at a theater of that city, its one week engagement at the Capitol Theater and its presentation of a program at the R. K. Orpheum Theater of Salt Lake City, its weekly radio broadcasts, and its activities during Engineers' Week. Its rendition of the Dvorak piano septet "Slavonic Dance" has been enthusiastically received wherever presented. The Piano Septet included Clara Hunt, Blanche Everett, Carolyn Graham, Margaret Dobson, Dorothy Taber, Irene Lundberg, Minnie Green, and Ada Waldron with Frances Gardner serving as alternate. Professor Thomas Giles was the director. |
