Show THE MILITARY PROM Splendid in its unique execution the 1932 Military Prom held on April 15 was popularly declared one of the season's social triumphs. The first affair of its kind to be held in the spacious new Union Building, the glamorous spectacle served as an appropriate climax of Utah's social calendar. The ballroom and adjoining lounges were cleverly decorated with red, white, and blue colors and military equipment. Dainty silver necklaces of modernistic design were the favors. Dressed as doughboys, the orchestra was barricaded in a miniature machine gun nest behind a flagpole bearing the stars and stripes. The traditional grand march was headed by Governor and pred j0hnso Mrs. George H. Dern and President and Mrs. George Thomas. Chairman Following them were the R. 0. T. C. officers and uniformed sponsors. Taps was sounded, "The Star Spangled Banner" sung, and the flag lowered as the affair ended. The committee in charge of arrangements included Phoebe Hansen, Ardelle Fisher, Lucille Allred, Lois Keddington, and Frankie Young, honorary sponsors; and Fred Johnson, Homer Stringham, Reed Jordan, Arthur Crow, Monteith McOmie, Junius Foutz, Karl Bromley, Rudolph Larsen, Floyd McGinn, and Ted Tellefsen.
