Show FROSH FOOTBALL RESUME Year after year the Papooses serve as fodder for the merciless antics of the Redskin varsity. Year after year they do their work well-much to their own discomfiture. The 1931 season found a vast horde turn out for the grid sport, but only 45 weathered to the end the maltreatment inflicted by the varsity maulers. Competition with the other two colleges of the state is always secondary to the varsity buffetings, but the two tilts do afford some basis for the awarding of first year woolens. Aside from these two considerations, there is perhaps another: the frosh contest is a bridge-over affair, a weaning from high school ball, and a foretaste of big time college play. Utah greenlings suffered two reverses in their 1931 fling, thereby sliding into an uncontested cellar berth. The Cougar Kittens dealt them the first blow, a 20-19 count, and the Logan Farmers whipped them, 12-0, in the last game. A host of promising men endured the carnage with fighting heart, and they will doubtless be heard from next year. Knapp and Callis were two plucky ends, and Crowton was another good wingman. Reeves, Ervin Johnson, and James Johnson were the cream of the tackles, and Pugh, Savich, and Mason headed the string of capable guards. Roberts, Smith, and Bolic were outstanding pivot men. Pomeroy, Hoggan, Rinaldi, McDonald, and Arnett formed a quintet of stellar ball luggers. Numeral Winners: Knapp, Callis, Thornley, Swaner, Wright, Holberry, Reeve, Atkins, L. Johnson, J.
