Show ATHLETIC COUNCIL Walter Kerr Chairman In its administration of intercollegiate athletics at Utah University, the Athletic Council has pursued every ligitimate avenue to keep the Utes on the pinnacle of Rocky Mountain Conference athletics. Working under less pressure than heretofore, because of the natural expansion of college sports and of the favorable public sentiment concerning intersectional play, the council was quick to consider offers to play nationally famous football teams. The game with Washington at Seattle, and the post-season charity benefit contest with Oregon State College at Portland, did more to entrench Utah in the forefront of national football than even its remarkable conference victories. In its deliberations, the council enlisted the support of University authorities in whatsoever project it sought to further, acting as it should: an intermediary between athletes, the R. M. C, the University, and the public. Acting with Professor Walter A. Kerr, chairman, were the following members: Stanley Murphy, graduate manager; Dr. H. Leo Marshall, secretary; Coach Ike Armstrong, Pete Couch, Wesley Anderson, Lorraine Cox, Darwin Howard, and Thomas Hull, bursar. Stanley Murphy's work as graduate manager was characterized by dependability, fine business insight, and a keen knowledge of sports and men. Stan Murphy Grad. Mgr.
