Show FOOTBALL CAPTAIN The re-election of Frank Christensen as captain of the 1932 Redskin varsity came as no surprise to close followers of Utah U football who have watched the big fellow during the past two seasons, last fall particularly, when he led the Red-men to another conference gonfalon. "Big Chris," so called by teammates and the press, has been a watchword of gridiron brilliance since his appearance on the R. M. C. frontier in 1930, having been rated on all-conference teams two years by every critic or set of critics. Much could be said of the duties of a football captain, but nothing is more important than his knowledge of the game and his judgment in tight places. Chris has shown more than once that he can stand up under fire, and this doubtless had much to do with his re-election. As field leader Chris has not been contemptuous of the judgment of signal callers; in fact he has courted their suggestions as being almost as valuable and certainly as deserving of consideration as his own-a trait that has made him very popular with every wearer of the Crimson. Christensen is as modest as any leader dare be, and perhaps this ultra-modesty has had so much to do with his popularity, both on the field and in the stands. Page One Hundred Ninety-nine |
