Show Bird, Haymond, Burt. CHEER LEADERS Ably assisted by Sherm Burt, Josh Hogue, and Mel Bird, Bill Haymond, varsity cheer leader, succeeded in maintaining organized cheering at all Utah athletic contests. Haymond and his assistants, in addition to leading the yells, also worked to an advantage with Crimson pep units-Spurs, Blue Keys, Glee Club, and Pep Band-in putting over novelty stunts. Particularly noteworthy was the work of the fun masters in directing the Utah rally at Portland. Radio broadcasts of Utah yells, street demonstrations, and parading, combined to rouse Utah spirit. ATHLETIC MANAGERS Sharing with coaches and athletes the 1931-32 sports limelight were the athletic managers, Monroe Wissmar, Alan Coombs, Bob Garnett, Udall Pace, and Frank Haymond. Wissmar had charge of the manager in addition to being football manager. Coombs administered the basketball managerial post, and Garnett worked with the track coaches and squad. Haymond and Pace were assistant to all three. These men warrant much praise for their tireless work in keeping athletic equipment in shape, and otherwise helping coaches and players.
