Show THE PEP BAND During the past year, while serving its purpose of maintaining school spirit, the University of Utah Pep Band has won unprecedented honors as a regular feature attraction at all athletic contests and pep assemblies. This organization journeyed to Portland with the football team and gained for itself an enviable reputation in that city. The band made about forty public appearances and always show a desire to co-operate with civic societies of Salt Lake City in their various ventures. Of special service was its work in the Community Chest drive and in the Homecoming Day Parade. In the spring quarter the organization journeyed to Davis and Weber Counties and presented its programs. The band was under the direction of Clarence J. Hawkins, and Donald Newsome, Herbert Snyder, Reed Hyde, and Richard Darnell served as president, drum major, manager, and librarian.
