Show THE DEBATE COUNCIL An unequalled year in varsity debate has just been completed. La Verne Bane, debate director, has produced some excellent competition for other schools in this region. The debaters have met remarkable success throughout the season and their activities have included an extended tour of this state and the west coast. The Women's debate squad tied with B. Y. U. for the state championship and the men's team has left an unparalleled history of success. The debates have been presented primarily for educational purposes both on and off the campus. All forensic activities come under the supervision of the debate council. This group, composed of faculty and student members, outlines the activities of the year, oversees all try-outs, selects the subjects for debate, chooses the student manager, and has charge of all trips and financial matters involved in debate. Efficiently and unobtrusively the council has functioned this year with Herbert Maw as chairman and the following members: Joseph Smith and La Verne Bane of the faculty and Jay Parkinson and Ted Moss of the student body.
