[Mar. 6, the tender shoots growing directly from the trunk near the ground, thus causing considerable damage to the plantations, as these shoots are generally the grafted buds. It lies on the upperside of the leaf along the midrib, with its head pointing towards the stem, and in this position much resembles a bird's dropping. The pupa is attached to the trunk of the tree, from which it is practically indistinguishable in colour, aud is generally within two feet of the ground. The pupa stage lasts about a fortnight."- /.
