This specimen, which is very young, may be easily recognized as belonging to this species by the markings on the back and neck ; the hairs along the centre of the back are longer and stiffer than those elsewhere, although there is no noticeable crest, tbe white subdorsal lines start from the middle of the back and run to the root of the tail, and the markings on the neck are very clear and distinct. The sides of the body, which are dark brownish, are flecked with dull white spots, which show a tendency to arrange themselves into transverse lines. 9. PARADOXURUS HERMAPHRODITUS (Pall).
