HYDROCYON BREVIS Gthr. " Native name ' Sokkoro.' Very common; a specimen was found with a large Alestes in its gullet. Ventral lobe of caudal fin brilliant red. Used by the natives for food." 14. ALESTES DENTEX Hasselq. 15. ALESTES SETHENTE C. & V. " Known as ' Ballaunta.' Everywhere common, largely eaten and used as bait. The scales have a sky-blue tint, tail bright red." |
