Whereas Pattie M ILLER Gardener to the Company of Apothecaries at their Botanick Garden at Chelfea, and Fellowof the Royal Society, and CHARLES RIVINGTON of Our City of London, Bookfeller, have humbly reprefented unto Us, that they have, with great Labour and Expence, publifhed a Book Entitled { The Gardener's Dittionary, containing the Methods ofculti ating and improving the Kitchen, Fruit, and Flower Garden; as alfo, the Phyfick Garden, Wilderne/s, Confervatory, and V3 eyard, according to the Prattice of the moft experienced Gardeners of the prefent Age ; inter{perfed with the Hiftory of the Plants, the Charatters of each Genus, and the Nam all the particular Species in Latin and Englith; and an Explanation ufed in Botany and Gardening: Together with Accounts ofthe Nature and Ufe of Barometers, Thermometers, and Ldygrometers, proper for Gardener 3 and of the Origin, Caufes, and Nature of Meteors; and the particular Influences of Air, Larth, Fire, and Water, upon Vegetation, according to the beft natural Philofophers, adorned with Copper Plates :] And have humbly befought Us to grant them Our Royal Privilege and Licence for the fole Printing and Publifhing thereof for Term of Fourteen Years; We being willing to give all due Encouragement to fo ufeful a Work, are gracioufly pleafed to condefcend to their Requeft ; and do therefore, by thefe Prefents, fo far as may be agreeable to Law, grant unto them, the faid PHitie MILLER and CHARLES RivineTon, their Executors, Admini- ftrators, and Affigns, Our Licence forthe fole Printing and Publifhing the faid Book for the Term of Fourteen Years, to be computed from the Date hereof; ftrialy forbidding all our Subjeés within our Kingdoms and Dominions to Reprint or Abridg the fame, cither in the like or any other Volume or Volumes whatfoever, or to import, buy, vend, utter, or diftribute any Copies thereof reprinted beyond the Seas, during the aforefaid Term of Fourteen Years, without the Confent or Appro- bation of the faid Puixip MILLER and CHARLES Rivincron, their Heirs, Executors, and Affigns, under their Hands and Seals firft had and obtained, as they will anfwer the contrary at their Perils: Whercof the Commiflioners, and other Officers of Our Cuftoms, and the Mafter, Warden, and CompanyofStationers, are to take Notice that Obedience be rendred to Our Pleafure herein declared, Given at Our Court at St. James's the Fourteenth Day of Decembe r, 1732. in the Sixth Year of Our Reign.
