A There was places that there was water that we could ride over, but the shorter the bend is, you will find -- you are more liable to find a channel for a short distance until the river straightens, or commences to make the reverse curve, then you have a crossing -- many times you have a crossing from one bend to the other, you have no channel, your channel spreads out the same as the sand does. Q Could we sum it up this way, generally, throughout this trip, you had trouble with sandbars? A Sure; yes sir. Q Are you familiar with this term, crossing bar? A Crossing bar, or crossing channel. Any time you have a crossing bar, when your bar crosses from one side to the other, your channel crosses from the opposite side. Q Some of the witnesses refer to it as crossing bars, |
